I made my home in Cornwall having moved from the Greater Manchester area in 1978 and married a Cornishman; I’m almost classed as a local 🙂
I acquired a lease to an art studio based on an industrial estate in Cornwall which I turned into a venue for all things art and crafty. Out of the Box Cornish Craft House was born. This venue was an ideal location for artists and crafters alike to hold workshops and classes; it also catered to some of Cornwall’s Adult Education creative courses.
I established a monthly Craft Club with the Bodmin Gaolbirds W.I. and showcased a different taster session each month which was very successful. This got me started on expanding my knowledge of a wide variety of crafts, I love to dabble and learn new things, but so far I haven’t found my ‘niche’ as I’m enjoying myself too much!
I gave up the lease to the unit a couple of years ago when my daughter had her first child. That first year I spent an awful lot of time in Bristol helping to look after Arlen and visiting my other grandson, Miles. They are my world, I love them to bits! I have spent the last couple of years making lots of clothes, blankets, toys and anything that was requested for my boys 🙂
During this time I carried on the Facebook page for ‘Out of the Box Craft House’ to share information, news, events and workshops for anyone interested in anything crafty and more. My website was still in existence but well out of date; I have just started to modernise with a new look and blog.
Out of the Box Cornish Craft House shares information on craft related news, inspiration, workshops and other local events in Cornwall and beyond. I hope you find the website useful.
